http://www.radicalislam.org\\\\\\\\\\\ Panic in Kashmir as Al Qaeda Threatens All Girls\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Wed, August 15, 2012 \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ A new Islamist group in Kashmir has issued a harsh warning to all girls living in the Kashmir region of India. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ “We appeal to the people to ensure purdah (veiling) of their girls. They should not allow their girls to go out of their homes without purdah. If we spot any woman without purdah we will sprinkle acid on her face,” read handwritten posters of the group which have been found in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ In addition, the posters continued, “If we spot any girl using a mobile phone she will be shot dead instantly.” \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ The posters have been signed by groups calling themselves “Lashkar Al Qaeda” and “Al Qaeda Mujahideen.” \\\\\\\\\\\\\ The group also issued an ultimatum to the panches and sarpanches (elected officials), stating, “All panches and sarpanches should resign within a week’s time. They should go to a mosque and publically apologize for their mistakes. They should also publish their resignation in newspapers and keep its copy with themselves. They should produce these copies whenever they are asked so. They should desist from resorting to any wrongful activity otherwise they would be killed,” according to the posters.” \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ In June, other such ultimatums were issued to the elected officials prompting fear and panic.
