MUSLIM SEX CRIMINALS SENTENCED (UK) \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ROCHDALE ONLINE \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Child sex trial: sentences \\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Date published: 09 May 2012 \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Nine men have been sentenced today, Wednesday 9 May 2012 to a total of 77 years behind bars following their convictions yesterday of being part of a child sexual exploitation ring. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ The inquiry was led by GMP's Public Protection Division, assisted by the Major Incident Team and Rochdale division, and focused on allegations that five teenage girls in Rochdale were sexually exploited over a period of time by a group of 11 men.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ The trial at Liverpool Crown Court was part of Greater Manchester Police’s largest ever investigation into child sexual exploitation.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ The men, who are all from Rochdale and Oldham, "groomed" young girls, some as young as 13. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ The 59-year-old ringleader, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to 19 years in prison.\\\\\\\\\\\\\ The eight other men are: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Adil Khan, 42, of Oswald Street, Rochdale, was jailed for eight years for conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child and trafficking a child within the UK.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Kabeer Hassan, 25, of Lacrosse Avenue, Oldham, was sentenced to nine years for rape and three years, concurrently, for the conspiracy conviction. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Abdul Aziz, 41, of Armstrong Hurst Close, Rochdale, was convicted of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child and trafficking a child within the UK. He received a nine year sentence. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Abdul Rauf, 43, of Darley Road, Rochdale was convicted of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child and trafficking a child within the UK, was jailed for six years. Mohammed Sajid, 35, of Jephys Street, Rochdale, also convicted of one count of rape, sexual activity with a girl under 16 and trafficking a child within the UK, was jailed for 12 years. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Mohammed Amin, 45, of Falinge Road, Rochdale, also convicted of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child and sexual assault, received a five-year jail term. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Hamid Safi, 22, of Kensington Street, Rochdale, also convicted of trafficking a child within the UK and conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child, recieved a four year sentence. He will be deported to Afghanistan at the end of his sentence.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Abdul Qayyum, 44, of Ramsay Street, Rochdale, was convicted of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child and was jailed for five years. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ All the convicted men were ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Michael Sanderson, of the sexual offences unit, said: “Today’s result reflects the gravity of the offences. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ “These defendants have never shown the slightest bit of remorse and have forced their victims to re-live their horrific ordeals. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\“Today’s sentences provide a strong message that Greater Manchester Police and our partners will hunt down and prosecute anyone believed to be involved in the sexual exploitation of children.” \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\NB: During a BBC radio phone in, a listener asked, "Why there is no name of a Hindu or Sikh among the convicted?"
