Muslim Mob Destroys Hindu Temple in Rural Bengal, Tension in Nadia Monday, March 29, 2010 ////////////// Violent groups ravaged shops and a Hindu temple on Sunday, leading to protest and widespread panic at Haringhata are of Nadia District. ////////////// Trouble started at around 8:30 pm when the Islamists led by Mohammed. Bishe Goldar and Haidar Ali Goldar tried to extort money from the Hindus as tribute for a local Islamic festival. When refused, the mobs went on a rampage and destroyed nearly twenty five shops belonging to the Hindu community. Deities of Shiva, Kali , Laxmi , Saraswati , Manasa, Krishna and Ganesh were destroyed. Fourteen of the attackers were arrested by the police after three hours, but they were eventually released due to local political interference. ///////////////// On Tuesday, a massive crowd of Hindus gathered to protest this inaction and blocked roads leading the Islamic festival.
