Ask an MP, any MP, in the Parliament of India, a question about the qualifications of Rajiv Gandhi, son of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the last autocratic “empress” of India who attacked Golden Temple instead of recovering North Kashmir and raising Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The reply to your question that you will get, will be, “He was a GRADUATE in Engineering from University of Cambridge in England. His degree was with DISTINCTION with top Merit. He was a genius. That is why he could move effortlessly overnight from the job of a pilot with domestic Airlines to the highest executive post of PRIME MINISTER of India.”

But wait a minute. Let us write to Cambridge University to get the Truth from the horse’s mouth.

This is what one bold and fearless NRI (a glorious exception in the murky Indian “sea of cowardice”) did.

The reply he received from Cambridge University in England is reproduced below.

FROM: University Registry, The Old School, CAMBRIDGE, CB2 1TN, England. Dated 8 January 1990.

Dear Mr. Ghosh,

The librarian has passed to me your letter of 27 December about Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and his Cambridge qualifications.

Mr. Gandhi was in residence as an undergraduate at Cambridge for three years, from 1962 until 1965; his subject of study was Mechanical Sciences. During his time here he did not pass any University examinations, and so he left Cambridge without qualifying for a degree.

I hope this gives you the information that you require.
