"The Daily Telegraph", London, reported today, January 29, 2003, the incident in which a local man challenged a street robber seen running away from Madina Travel shop. The robber pulled a pistol and shot the man, Tasawar Hussain, dead.
The newspaper said Mr. Hussain was born in Jhelum, Pakistan.
BEFORE WE CONTINUE, LET US ASK OUR INDIAN READERS, "DOES JHELUM RING THE BELL?"
NO ANSWER. THE INDIAN MEMORY IS EXTREMELY SHORT. PARTITION SEEMS A THOUSAND YEARS AGO.
WELL, JHELUM IS WHERE THE FORMER PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA, IK GUJRAL WAS BORN, TOO. HE ESCAPED BY LUCK AND CHANCE WHEN HUSSAIN PEOPLE DID A THOROUGH ETHNIC CLEANSING OF MR. GUJRAL'S PEOPLE.
ON READING THE NEWS ITEM WE WONDERED IF MR. HUSSAIN'S FAMILY THEN MOVED INTO THE GUJRAL FAMILY HOUSE. IT WAS NOT UNCOMMON THEN FOR THE MUSLIMS TO RUSH IN TO OCCUPY THE HOUSE SOON AFTER ITS HINDU OCCUPANTS HAD BEEN SLAUGHTERED TO THE CHILD.
WE ALSO WONDERED WHY MR. HUSSAIN LEFT HIS LAND OF ALLAH. WE RECALL ALL THE MUSLIMS OF JHELUM DOING A DEEP "SIJDA" AT THE BIRTH OF PAKISTAN, THE IDEAL AND THE ULTIMATE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC ON EARTH, WASHED CLEAN IN HINDU BLOOD, THAT WAS TO PROVIDE COMFORTS AND LUXURIES TO ALL THE MUSLIMS ON EARTH WHAT MOHAMMED PROMISED THE GOOD MUSLIMS IN PARADISE.
AT PARTITION THE MUSLIMS LIVING IN MUD HUTS MOVED INTO BUNGALOWS VACATED BY THE FLEEING HINDUS AND THE SHEPHERDS NOW OWNED LIMOUSINES LEFT STANDING BY THE HINDU HOMES.
SO ONE FINDS IT AMAZING THAT NOW AN UNEDNDING STREAM OF ILLEGEL ASYLUM SEEKERS ARE GATECRASHING TO GET INTO EUROPE, ESPECIALLY ENGLAND.

Sir,
Hats off to you for the editorial today, January 29, 2003, under the caption, "MUSLIM HEROISM," in which you asked me to blush (last word). I did, indeed, blush.
Actually, I did think very bad of the Muslim community in Britain and began to fear the "fastest growing Fifth Column."
That was after reading the news under the heading, "Revealed: 1,200 Britons trained with al-Qaida." (The Sunday Telegraph, January 26, 2003, page 2.)
I wonder if on Sunday I had a nightmare and on Wednesday a lollipop.
My blush faded fast recalling the city of Lahore slipping away from beneath the British rule and burning fiercely.
Muslim mischief and savagery were at their worst or best, depending on which side of the secular fence one stood then,
While defenceless minorities were being ethnically cleansed on a vast scale (by our Muslim "fellow citizens") there was an instance of a Muslim family friend taking in the daughter of a fleeing Sikh for her safety. In those days there were widespread abductions and gang rape of Hindu and Sikh girls and women.
The thankful Sikh family then sent the details of the Muslim friend's chivalry to all the newspapers of EAST Punjab and asked the angry Sikhs to forget the ethnic cleansing we had gone through but, instead, to blush.
I sincerely hope your esteemed readers will be able to DISCRIMINATE between a drop of water and the lake.
There was NO "Muslim heroism" on hand from Karachi in the South to Gilgit in the North where I saw ISLAM in its true colours.
I believe Britain ought to abolish laws that restrict freedom of expression, for example, that stand in the way of raising awareness of the general public about Islam being an angry coiled spring with the perennial tendency to unwind, but occasionally giving a terrific blow, quite unexpectedly, as in India in 1947 and in the United States in 2001. Otherwise our legal system may resemble the frontiers of partitioned India, that is, given by "Sword of Islam."
Before I blush I have to learn of at least 1,200 such heroic acts on the part of British Muslims. Furthermore since the incident took place at a shop called "MEDINA Travel Agency" there could be a link between that name and the act of heroism. MEDINA, like MECCA, is holy to Islam. Our hero may have presumed the money belonged to a fellow Muslim.
The act of bravery by this man was highly commendable but to link it with the word "Muslim" so prominantly, as in your leader, is highly SUSPECT.
The future of internal security in Britain will require many fundamental changes in Muslim Belief and the Sharia Law before we all start blushing, Unwittingly we may create a false sense of complacency and start trusting them all.
The public can hardly be expected to know, 'this one is a hero and that one is the friend of al-Qaida and Iraq."
Lastly, how is it that nearly all asylum seekers are Muslim, Male and Young?
Where is their "heroism" to stay put in their own ISLAMIC republics which they cleansed and purified by slaughtering all the non Muslims, in order to make them decent and inhabitable, and worth living?
Their heroism back home is quite different, only if we could ask reporter Daniel Pearl in Karachi, all the women in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan, and church congregations in Bahawalpur and Islamabad.
In view of what I have written above, may I appeal to you, Sir, to blush?
